AGAP’s first Arts in Autumn programme was launched in September – November 2008 and we have continued to offer a programme at this time of year on an annual basis.
Smaller in scale than its “bigger brother”, Lentfest, Arts in Autumn is nonetheless a growing mini-festival, providing a varied programme of music, art and drama to brighten up the darker nights as we creep into winter. Since 2008, the festival programme has concluded with the Celebration of Holy Mass for the Artistic Community, to give thanks for the talents of the many people who contribute to the cultural life of the Archdiocese through the arts and to pray for them.
Recent developments in the Arts in Autumn programme have included the increased involvement of activities and events involving young people. The Annual Schools Art Competition and faith-based drama workshops previously run during Lentfest are now rehoused in the Arts in Autumn programme. The programme has also involved a number of collaborations, raising awareness of social and ethical issues and working with schools, educational organisations, charities and other Church agencies.
