Page 1 of 2 FILM AND FAITH EVENT We opened Lent Fest 2007 with a special screening of controversial film The Passion of the Christ (directed by Mel Gibson) and brought together a panel of speakers to have a conversation about the film with each other and with the audience.
Students, academics, clergy and upper-school children filled the cinema at the Gilmorehill Centre for Theatre, Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. The discussion was chaired by Br. Stephen Smyth of Glasgow Churches Together and the panel consisted of Dr Robert Boyle of the Centre for Cultural Policy Research, Dr Karen Boyle, lecturer in Film and Television Studies with expertise in screen violence; Dr Bob Davis, Head of Religious Education at the University; and the Very Rev. Robert Canon Hill, a priest of the Archdiocese and scripture scholar.
