An evening of Classical Music featuring piano solo music, sacred music, opera arias and songs.
Oksana Mavrodii (soprano) and Anna Mavromatidi (pianist) are musicians originally from the Ukraine and Russia respectively who have settled in Glasgow. They have recently recorded a CD of Russian Romantic songs which offers Scottish listeners a chance to hear something a little bit different. Prior to moving to Scotland, Oksana graduated in Classical and Opera Singing in Bulgaria and Germany where she sung in Karlsruhe Opera house as soloist in opera G. Paiseillo “Il Re Thedoro in Venezia”. Since moving to Scotland, Oksana has sung in prestigious venues such as the Glasgow Royal Concert hall and Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh as well having many small local concerts venturing as far North as the Shetland Islands. In addition Oksana has performed with the Glasgow Philharmonic choir on various occasions where she also has the role of assistant conductor.
Anna graduated from Saratov conservatoire in Southern Russia and later received a Masters degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She performs both as a soloist and as an accomplished accompanist working with both the Glasgow Male Voice Choir and Glasgow Cathedral Choir. Anna also teaches piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scoland.
