The St Patrick’s Ensemble, founded by violinist Paul Livingston in 2009, showcases some of the finest young professional musicians from across the UK and Europe. Concert highlights have included appearances with violinist Ani Batikian, soprano Maria Kozlova and BBC Classical Star guitarist, Ian Watt at venues across Scotland. The ensemble is committed to widening participation in the arts, having performed countless times at St Patrick’s, Anderston in support of the church’s ongoing restoration appeal.

The St Patrick’s Ensemble perform Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s hauntingly beautiful setting of the Stabat Mater for soprano, mezzo-soprano and strings in the glorious acoustic of St Mungo’s Church. The programme will open with the premiere of a new Stabat Mater setting by Scottish composer, George Tongchai Duthie, commissioned by the St Patrick’s Ensemble for Lentfest 2012. The evening will also feature spoken reflections on the Stabat Mater text, its Lenten significance and its portrayal of Mary in the Passion narrative. Soloists: Maria Kozlova and Beth Baxter.
