University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel, Main Building, University Avenue, G12 8QQ

The Via Crucis (“Way of the Cross”) is a set of images that traditionally depict the events surrounding the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. However, less-well known is the tradition of the Via Lucis (“Way of Light”) that depicts the events following Christ’s Resurrection until the Coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
For Lentfest 2012, a historic exhibition is taking place that combines the work of twenty-nine artists from a range of backgrounds and styles to reimagine the Stations of the Cross and Resurrection for our time. The exhibition features work by: Peter Howson; Richard Demarco; Jolomo (John Lowrie Morrison); David T. Collins; Terry Ann Newman; David Adam; David Gibson; Tommy Canning; James Callaghan; Tom Cahill; John Byars; Susie Batey; Christine Mailley; Aleksander Zysko; James Sheridan; Sarah T. Bookless; Michael Gilfedder; Gillian Stephen; Gerard Burns; Brendan Berry; Lynne Scobbie; Michael Savage; Audrey McAnea; Sandy Moffat; Marlena Nizio; Lorraine Lamond; Vivienne Edgar; and Margaret Connelly.
In addition, the exhibition will feature an installation of ancient Roman nails from the University’s Hunterian Museum, of the type used in the practice of crucifixion, arranged by Christina Gilfedder, and a brand new sculptural project by Kate Robinson on the theme of the Crucifixion.
